SAGGY CURLS | 6 TIPS FOR LONG-LASTING CURLS

Saggy curls are super annoying. You tried so hard during your wash day, but your curls fall out again after a few hours. This can have several reasons: you use too much product, products that are too heavy, suffer from build-up, do not use protein or a hairdryer, etc. etc.

With these tips you can prevent your curls from sagging again after a few hours.

TIP 1: CUT LAYERS IN YOUR HAIR

It is so important to have a good shape in your hair. Find a good curly hairdresser in your area, who knows how to cut layers in your hair. .

What do you ask the hairdresser?

Of course the curly hairdresser is good at his/her profession. Be sure to seek advice from your hairdresser. They look at and feel your curls and can use this to determine which shape is most suitable for your curls. Ask the hairdresser to cut the top layer of your hair shorter than the bottom. This also provides extra volume because 'air' is cut into your curls.

Your curls can be a little upset when they have just been cut. Do not panic! This takes up to 2 weeks, after a few styling sessions you will see that your hair curls again or curls better than before.

TIP 2: USE PRODUCTS WITH PROTEIN

Quickly saggy curls can also indicate a lack of protein in your hair. The balance between protein and moisture is very important for your curl to curl properly.

With too much moisture (too little protein) , your hair stretches a lot and does not spring back into the curl. This will cause your curls to loosen and make them feel very soft. So every hair needs protein, but some hair needs more than others.

Do you have very damaged hair? Then use a mask with protein at least once a week. You can do this by mixing our All-in-One Treatment with the protein drops.

Isn't your hair damaged? Even then you need protein every now and then.

TIP 3: USE ENOUGH PRODUCTS ON YOUR WASHING DAY

You may know the term less = more when you style your hair with curl products. However, you should not use too little product either. Divide your hair into sections, 4 or 6 parts. Take a pea on well-wet hair and, if necessary, dilute the product with water in your hand. Continue this until you have filled every section of your hair with product. Prefer to use more gel than leave-in/cream!

Is your hair 80% dry? You can add extra gel by pouring some gel over your hair and scrunching it. This provides extra definition and hold.

*Avoid heavy products such as curl creams that contain butters or oils such as Black Castor or Avocado oil in the first 5 ingredients.

TIP 4: PROTECT YOUR CURLS AT NIGHT

To make your curls last longer, it's important that you protect your curls at night. You don't want to completely ruin them because you sleep wildly. In any case, it is advisable to sleep with a loose high tail, also called the pineapple tail.

Don't have long hair that can be put in a ponytail? Then of course there are also tools such as a satin bonnet or a satin pillowcase . This is super soft for your hair and you get fewer tangles. It makes a huge difference with refreshing the next morning.

TIP 5: USE A STYLING BRUSH DURING YOUR WASH DAY, THIS PROVIDES DEFINITION

Parting your hair into sections and distributing styling products throughout your hair with a brush such as the Denman Brush will provide extra definition. Although it may not always feel that way! A styling brush helps improve the curls in your hair.

A tangle teezer, a slightly wider brush, is also very nice to use while applying your styling products to wet hair. With a brush like this you can also get done faster!

TIP 6: USE STRONG HOLD GELS

Of course, it is also important to use good gels that keep your curls in place all day long. A gel to define the hair and add shine. Our Styling Gel has a strong hold and gives shine to your curls.

Good luck with your curls!
