5 TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR CURLS IN SUMMER!
Summer means sun, lovely! But a lot of sun also means dry and damaged curls. We all recognize this, you are in a warm country and your curls dry out because of the swimming pool, sun and sea. In that case, these care tips are super important.
- Adding Moisture to Your Routine
Moisture, you often hear it and it makes sense, because moisture literally means 'moisture'. Your curls can't do without it. Adding products to your routine that add moisture is very important. Our tip is to use sulphate-free products if you want to follow this tip properly. Sulphate-free products do not dry out the scalp and are better for nourishing the hair. Use a CG friendly shampoo and apply a nourishing mask to your hair once a week. So make sure you use a mask, our All-in-One Treatment mee on vacation. This ensures that your curls are well nourished and hydrated.
- Protect your curls from chlorine
Chlorine is a disinfectant and can make your hair porous. However, it is easy to protect your hair from chlorine. All you do is rinse your curls with tap water before going into the pool! Because there is 'clean' water in your hair, salt and chlorine are less able to penetrate your hair.
However, this is not enough because some substances can penetrate and ensure that your curls will still become dry. That is why it is advisable to wash your hair after swimming to rinse again with normal water and possibly a conditioner in your hair to nourish it.
- Protect your curls from the sun
A simple but effective way to minimize your hair's exposure to the sun is to wear a cap, bandana or hat. Would you rather not wear a cap on your head? Wear your curls in a knot or make braids in your hair.
Got wet hair? Watch out for the sun!
Water droplets not only increase the burning effect on your skin, but also on your hair. Did you just take a refreshing dip in the pool? Dry your hair with a (microfiber) towel or put a cloth over your curls when you go sunbathing.
- Using oil
You can retain moisture in your hair by sealing it with a Sealing Oil. How do you use an oil? It is advisable to do this according to the LOG method: After washing your hair and doing your styling routine, first apply a leave-in conditioner. As a second step, take some oil between your palms and distribute it through the ends. Finally, apply a gel. By sealing your hair, the moisture in your curls will stay longer.

- After your holiday
You are back in the Netherlands and continue to care for your (dry) curls. What can help to wash chlorine, salt and sand out of your hair is a final wash to do. Sulfate ensures that everything is cleaned well. Then follow with a mask with protein or moisture and let it soak in for 10 minutes.
