THE MOST COMMON STRUGGLES WITH CURLY HAIR AND THEIR CAUSES

Curly hair is beautiful and unique, but every curly girl knows how difficult it can be to maintain. Curls tend to become dry and frizzy quickly, and it can be a challenge to control the tangles. In this blog I discuss the most common struggles with curly hair and their causes, and I give tips on how to solve these problems.

  • Dry hair

Dry hair is a common problem with curly hair. This can have several causes, such as the use of harsh hair products, washing the hair too often, or the excessive use of heat styling tools. Dry hair can also be a result of the lack of moisture in the air.

To prevent dry hair, it is important not to wash the hair too often and to use mild hair products that are curly girl friendly. The advantage of CG friendly products is that they do not contain ingredients that are harmful and therefore drying to the hair, especially for curly hair. It is also important to choose products that moisturize the hair and keep it that way for longer, such as a weekly deep conditioner and a leave-in conditioner. A leave-in conditioner adds moisture to the hair and makes the hair soft and shiny.

    • Fluffy hair
Curly hair is a lot drier than straight hair, which causes extra frizz. This also means that the better the hair is hydrated, the less frizz it will be. Furthermore, external factors can also play a role in frizzy hair. For example, consider sleeping on a cotton pillowcase instead of satin, wind blowing your hair in all directions and excessively touching your hair.

Preventing frizzy hair completely is virtually impossible with curls, but of course there are ways to limit this:

      • Make sure your hair is well nourished and that you use the right products for the current season
      • Use plenty of products and products that reduce frizz, such as a gel
      • Sleep on a satin pillowcase or with a satin bonnet
      • Never brush the hair when it is dry or towel-dried, always when it is wet and there is product in the hair

Be sure to learn to accept the fluff! It is something that belongs to your curls and there is nothing wrong with it. Ultimately it's just a personal preference.

      • Split ends

Split ends are a common problem with curly hair. This is because the curls are naturally more fragile and break faster than straight hair. Unfortunately, once you have split ends, the only solution to get rid of it is to cut it off. You want to do this as quickly as possible so that the split ends do not split further upwards.

It is possible to prevent this as much as possible! To prevent this, it is important to have the hair cut regularly so that dead ends are removed. The old hair is a lot weaker and has a tendency to split more quickly. Furthermore, you want to be careful when your hair is in a fragile state, i.e. when it is wet or very dry. Bottom line, it comes down to properly nourishing and caring for your hair with the right products.

        • Styling curly hair

Do you know that feeling that one week your hair is great and the next week it's not at all? How is that possible if you use the same products... The Curls have a tendency to shrink quickly and lose their shape. Styling curly hair can also take a lot of time and effort.

To make styling curly hair easier, it is important to wash and care for the hair with mild hair products that do not dry out the hair. It can also help to style the hair when it is still damp, for example by using a curl defining product such as the gel from [brand name]. This gel gives the curls definition and ensures that the curls remain in shape for a longer period of time.

In addition, it is important not to touch or brush the hair too much when it is dry, as this can lead to frizz and frizz. Instead, you can gently style the hair with your fingers or use a diffuser to dry the curls.

          • Damaged hair

Curly hair can quickly become damaged, for example by using aggressive hair products, frequently styling the hair, or using heat styling tools. Damaged hair can lead to dryness, frizz, split ends, and hair loss.

To prevent damaged hair, it is important to care for the hair with the right hair products to meet the needs of your hair and not to style it too often with heat styling tools. It can also help to have the hair cut regularly, so that dead ends are removed and the hair remains healthy.

            CONCLUSION

As you have probably noticed while reading this blog, the same thing is repeated regularly. Most common problems with curly hair lead back to its care. The products you use, and whether they are the right ones, the way you deal with them, for example, you use a lot of heat on your hair, but also certainly the external factors. Curly hair will always be more work than straight hair, but you also get so much in return. As your hair becomes healthier, and you have a regular, appropriate routine, you will see many of the above problems slowly but surely disappear.
